Each of these last six Sundays has featured one of our significant partners and has included the following:
Introduction of the partner
Why we support this partner and its mission.
What is the theological basis or background of the mission
How do UPC donations and volunteers help?
Does the partner have additional needs?
Questions from the audience?
SPJ’s mission is to assist the poorest of the poor in building sustainable communities. SPJ serves over 4000 families in the outskirts of Juarez, in kilometers 30-33. Breaking the cycle of generational poverty includes assisting with educational needs and providing medical and dental services. SPJ has trained residents to physically build homes and infrastructure within their community. By providing supplemental food supplies, dispensing clothing, and household items SPJ allows the families an opportunity to dream for a brighter future than their parents have endured. Over the years SPJ trained construction teams have built over 500 homes; a public library; a 15,000 square foot activity center; a 12,000 square foot Mercado; 2 parks; a church; and a community center.
