Waiting in God's Story: A Bible Study
The Easter Vigil, or Paschal Vigil, has been celebrated by the Church since at least 180 CE, and is marked by readings from the Old Testament. The readings of the Old Testament are meant to remind the church of its origins - from disciples, the Israelite People, to the creation of the very world. In these stories are people wrestling with pain and sorrow, celebrating joys and wonders, and understanding their relationship with God. These are the movements of the Vigil and being reminded that while we wait for Easter morning, it’s also practice for waiting for God’s Kingdom to come. We will continue to read these stories as we continue our waiting during our shelter in place orders. You are invited to come, read, discuss, listen, and be open to The Spirit as we continue our vigil, waiting to be freed from the oppression of Covid19, waiting to celebrate the resurrection together physically, and even more generally, waiting for God’s Kingdom to come.
